In order for Web pages to be found effectively on Search Engines, Web Authors must put Meta tags into their web page. There are two important ones - keywords and description. Keywords contains a list of all the important words in a page. These are the ones that are found when you enter a search. Description just contains a couple of sentences describing what's in the page. If you get these two things right, you're more likely to be found as a result of a web search.

<META name="keywords" content="authors, automatically....">

Creating the right set of words is difficult. If you put too many in, the search engine ignores some of them so you only want to include the most important words. If you've got a lot of pages on your website, that's a big job.

This is why we created makemeta.cgi.

Makemeta reads every web page on your site and looks at every unique word. It strips out stopwords (most words except for nouns - you can add to this list easily) and converts plurals into their singular form. That leaves a list of (usually) less than 100 words which are then automatically put back into the web page in the right place. Each file is re-read and written back with the extra tag put in the <head> section of the web page.

You can buy MakeMeta.cgi from us for use on your site. Pricing depends on the number of sites you want to use it on and if you can install it yourself. Contact us for more details.
