Just bought and integrated your google checkout code - works nicely thanks - spent most of yesterday fighting with the free osc contribution one - gave up and then found yours and it works a treat thanks.

I really appreciate your quick replies to my silly little questions. I was apprehensive about the purchase of this mod but, it really does work! And, you have helped me sort out my small issues.

Thank you!

Level 1 Integration just adds a Google checkout button to your OSCommerce page. If customers have an account with Google (like they can have a Paypal account), they click the button, login with a click (it remembers your login details) and you see your shopping cart and shipping charges and you can click to confirm purchase.

That's it. The Level 1 module uses shipping modules you configure on your OSC site but you don't see the order in your OSC admin panel and it doesn't control stock. You have to adjust that manually.

Level 2 Integration adds communication between OSC and Google Checkout. It records the order and records the purchase as a Google checkout payment with the GC payment ID. In the administration, you can charge the credit card and you can notify your customer that the order has shipped and it will pass on the information to Google without using the Google Control panel. If the credit card payment was declined, the payment status will reflect this.

This code will look for the email address in members details and automatically make them a member if it's not found. This means that Vouchers will work. (Google haven't released this feature in the UK yet).

You can make a partial charge, partial and full refunds from the OSC admin.

It will sign your customer up for the newsletter if they have said they want to be kept informed.

Official Google Code The free OSC module developed by Google has been written without the full understanding of how OSC works so the installation instructions are very difficult and the shipping calculations are not done by the OSC shipping modules.

Google Checkout Transaction Charges seem to be much lower than PayPal and the ease of purchase means this is going to be BIG.

PayPal Website Payments Pro charges $20.00 USD monthly fee. The transaction fees are 2.2% to 2.9% + $0.30 USD.

In Google Checkout for every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free. For example, if you spent $1,000 on AdWords last month, this month you can process $10,000 in sales at no cost. The more you spend to promote your business through AdWords, the more you save on transaction processing fees with Google Checkout. This is a nice bonus for big AdWords merchants.

If you exceed your free transaction processing for the month, or you don’t advertise with AdWords at all, you’ll only be charged 2% plus $.20

Your website has to have two bits of software installed called LibXML (or PHP5) and CURL. It also needs an HTTPS/SSL connection in order to use Level 2 integration. (Easily done on Apache servers, less easy on Windows).
This zip file contains a PHP page which you can put on your site to see if your website has got this software already installed.
 test_google_functions.zip (4k)
You also need to be able to password protect a directory (folder) using "Basic Authentication" with a long username and password which contains upper and lower case letters and number also period hyphen and underscore.
