Drop Shipping

Drop Shipping is a supply chain management technique in which the retailer does not keep goods in stock, but instead transfers customer orders and shipment details to wholesalers, who then ship the goods directly to the customer. The retailers make their profit on the difference between the wholesale and retail price.

There are (still) opportunities to make money using the internet with some startup costs and low on-going costs. If you can get orders from customers using your website, and then pass the order directly to another company who ships the product directly to the customer and just bills you the (lower) cost for the product and shipping.

OSCommerce can provide a low cost website to sell products. You put find a drop shipper yourself, I can't help you. However one of my customers found a drop shipping company to supply him and they also provide an electronic feed of stock levels and products.

Graith Internet developed a number of scripts which are run automatically whose job it is to collect and process this data. They also download product images and set the selling price. In this way, 5467 products were added to the OSC website in less than two minutes (the product images took longer to download).

Because the data feed format will be different for another drop shipper, we can't give you a price for this work, but please contact us giving us details and we'll happily help you set up a site like this.
